Care and Feeding of a Mermaid
Weeki Wachee has fascinated me all week since I found the Alice in Wonderland underwater teaparty. Wikipedia says:
“Weeki Wachee Springs is a natural tourist attraction located in Weeki Wachee, Florida, where underwater performances by “mermaids”, women dressed with fins about their legs as well as other fancy outfits, can be viewed in an aquarium-like setting in the spring of the Weeki Wachee River. A water park, Buccaneer Bay, and boat rides are also part of the attraction.
Weeki Wache visitors sit sixteen feet underwater and view Florida Mermaids in a performance that is unique in all the world.”
As a British citizen, this can only hold the unbridled pie eyed fascination where one’s own aquatic experience is firmly mitigated to a rainy school trip to Tynemouth Sea Life centre to poke a few stingray and be thoroughly disappointed at the un Jaws like proportions of the sharks. Now ask yourself this, what would have made the Sea Life centre better? MERMAIDS.

12/365 What a £10 charity shop gets you
The mother of all charity shop hauls – almost. I’ve come back more laden with crap than this, but finding not only one but two Boris Karloff videos really deserves some kind of treasure amongst the shit award. All of 20p each (the body snatcher is exellently sinister and I would fully recommend it).
The depressing modern world failed me again when trying to locate reasonably priced bedside tables. I wonder why I even bothered looking through the argos and ikea websites when if you’re lucky you can get them in charity shops for a reasonably amount (this one was £3.99). Both giving to charity to ease your financial consumer conscience and getting a pretty funky piece of furniture. Or proper nana furniture but either way I plan to paint this black to go with the rest of our new room once it’s finished. Now I just need to find Marc one…
The brother deluxe typewriter is my favourite object in my writing room so finding another for £2.50, well I couldn’t help but snap it up. It’s getting sick though, that makes mine and my partners collective typewriter collection up to 6. Next time you read a post like this I’ll be on telly sitting amongst my treasures like the next Mr . Trebus

I tried this 5 years ago when I was a sick house ridden hermit in dire need of a creative outlet. It didn’t have the whole internet shebang attached but I’ve decided to do the same this year only without the sick house ridden part. Well, I still don’t go out all that often… Anyway the aim is to take a picture for every day of the year and although many people fall at the first hurdle: complete lack of foresight that some days are just shit and you cannot be bothered to document it, upload it and possibly write about it. All whilst putting your best internet foot forward so to speak. So through the good and bad we’ll see how far I get.
Also, anyone else having a complete quatre life crisis right now?
